Catherine L. Shearer, 87, of Wooster, died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at West View Manor in Wooster.Friends may callSunday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster.Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00am at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Bartkowiak and Associate Pastor Wayne Geisler officiating.Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

She was born October 11, 1921 in Jeromesville, Ohioto Henry and Carrie (Newman) Garman.

Catherine married Kermit D. Shearer on October 11, 1941. She is survived by her husband after 67 years of marriage.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ (now Old Stone Church).She enjoyed sports especially watching basketball and baseball.She and Kermit loved camping and gardening.She belonged to Hi-Lo Club and Farm Bureau.She was always a vital part to the successful family dairy farm. Catherine gave everything she had to her family unselfishly.She then retired from Hawkins Cafeteria after 10 years of service.

Catherine will be deeply missed by her husband Kermit, sons Robert D. (Dorothy) Shearer of Apple Creek, William E. (Connie) Shearer of Wooster, Gary L. (Marilyn J.) Shearerof West Salem and daughter Glorene K. (Scott) Evilsizor of Oklahoma and special friend Linda Burgess of Dalton, 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lemoyne, Ernest, Bill and Chester Garman, an infant brother Isaac and a grandson Mark R. Shearer.
