Cathy Yanke

Cathy A. Yanke, 57, of Norton, died suddenly Saturday, May 23, 2009.She was born September 20, 1951 in Barberton, Ohio, to Delbert and Beulah (Miller) Gunn.

She was a graduate of the St. Thomas School of Nursing in 1984 and had been employed by the Hospice Care Center in Copley for the last 11 years. Cathy previously had worked at Barberton Citizens Hospital on the Oncology unit for 13 years. She was a dedicated Registered Nurse and was very compassionate and giving of herself to all her family, friends, co-workers and patients. Cathy adored her 3 grandchildren and loved to cook. She was famous for her nut roll and baked goods at Christmas time.

Cathy will be deeply missed by all those who were lucky to have known her and especially by her daughter, Kimberly (Craig) Dennis of Clinton, grandson, Tristan and granddaughters, Emily and Megan, brother James Gunn of Akron, sister Karen Dietry of Barberton and numerous other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her loving husband, David A. Yanke.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 29 at 11:00 A.M. at Roberts Funeral Home-Hillcrest Chapel, Wadsworth, with Reverend Robert Webb, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Fairlawn, Ohio.
