Charles Godfrey

Charles "Chuck" W. Godfrey, 65, of Ravenna, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at his residence with his family by his side.

Memorial services will be Saturday at 3pm at the Akron First Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 655 E. Waterloo Ave with Pastor Mark Swaisgood officiating. Chuck was born November 7, 1945 in Spokane, WA to Percy and Marcella {Cruver} Godfrey.

He graduated from Walla Walla University and received his Masters degree from Andrews University. He married Becky Blasdel on December 31, 2003. She survives.

Chuck was a pastor with the Seventh Day Adventist Church and also was a truck driver for Great Lakes Cheese Mfg in Hiram. He was also a Controller for Washington Public Power Supply System. He had been a member of the Wooster Noon Lions Club and was an active member of the Ravenna SDA Church. Chuck enjoyed landscaping, building and remodeling. With his wife, Becky, he was a pianist and organist for many churches, also playing with The Impacts gospel singing group in Washington. He loved people and had a great sense of humor.

Chuck will be deeply missed by his wife Becky; children Chane Godfrey of Kennesaw, GA and Cherian (Andy) Godfrey-Rude of Durango, CO; grandchildren Owen & Peyton Rude; sisters Marlene (Ralph) Anderson of Walla Walla, WA and Linda Hilton of Yakima, WA.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marilyn Frazier and brother Ronald Godfrey.
