David G. Columbus, 77, of Wooster, died Sunday, December 6, 2010 at Wooster Community Hospital.


Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 11:00 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Christopher Trenta officiating. Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster is handling the arrangements. Dave was born on January 27, 1933 in Marion, Ohio to John Paul and Elva Viola (Goff) Columbus.He married Joan Elaine Reece in 1964 after serving in the United States Army in Germany.


Dave was educated at St. Patricks Catholic School in Galion and graduated from Galion Senior High School.He attended Kent State University on a football scholarship.He graduated from Ohio Northern University with a BS in Civil Engineering.He worked at Engineering Associates of Wooster and later started Columbus Engineering.He designed the service and maintenance building on MechanicsburgRd. and bridges and allotments throughout Ohio.


He belonged to the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers.He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.He treasured his Catholic faith, his family, his home and was always working to make things better.


In addition to his wife Joan, David will be deeply missed by his children Lisa (Brent) Miller of Wooster and Thomas (Holly) Columbus of Dallas, Texas, grandchildren Breanna, Katie, Taylor, Abby, Chyenne, Victoria, Leillana and Cordel, sisters Elizabeth Moyer of Galion, Ohio and Patricia Williams of Sunbury, a special nephew Chuck and nieces Beth & Sheryl.
