Donald William Gauweiler, 86, of Orrville, formerly of Wooster, died Sunday, February 12, 2006 at his residence. ?Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, with the Rev. He was born October 4, 1919, in Wooster, to George and Ethel Marie (Kiser) Gauweiler. ?He married Harriet Matheny on June 9, 1945. ?She preceded him in death on May 5, 1983.
Donald served in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in London during WWII. ?He worked for United Telephone for 35 years, retiring in 1981. ?He enjoyed bowling, stamp and coin collecting, fishing, and photography.
Surviving are three daughters, Sally I. (Roger) Maas of Wooster, Linda M. (Larry) Turney of Shreve, and Jennie L. (Charles) Bower of Wooster; grandchildren Deborah J. (Ken) Miller, Robin E. (April) Maas, Tamara I. (Jason) Speicher, James W. (Maria) Turney, Charles W. Bower, and Chad R. (Melissa) Bower; great-grandchildren Kenny Allen Miller, Eric J. Miller, Matthew and Benjamin Maas, Blake, Morgan, and Nicholas Speicher, and Leigh Ann Bower; and sisters Florence Blohm of New Philadelphia, and Doris (Kenneth) Allenbaugh of Hayesville.
In addition to his wife, sisters Margaret Gauweiler, Virginia Young, and Evelyn Meyers preceded him in death.
