Donald E. "Don" Messenger, 61, of Orrville, died Thursday March 30, 2006, at his residence.
Services will be Monday, at 11 AM, at the Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, with Rev. Robin Myers officiating. ?Entombment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held. ?Friends may call Sunday from 2 PM to 4 PM at the funeral home.

He was born September 7, 1944 in Winston-Salem, NC to Lida and Lonnie (Smith) Messenger. ?He married Helen Shanley on April 12, 1996. ?She survives.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and retired from Quality Castings after more than 30 years of service. ?He was a member of the Marshallville American Legion, and enjoyed hunting, cars, NASCAR, motor sports, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In addition to his wife, other survivors include daughters, Cristy (Robert) Persinger, Heather (Dale) Auxier, a son, Doug (Heidi) Messenger all of Orrville, grandchildren, Todd, Jessie, Katelyn, Dylan, and Savannah, his stepmother, Marian Messenger of Orrville, brother, Jim (Trudy) Messenger of Tennessee, sisters, Barb (Dan) Kirk of Smithville, Carol (John) Gross of Virginia, Marilyn (Randy) Everett of Marshallville and best friend Charlie Crites of Dalton.
His parents, daughter Debbie, and a granddaughter Ashlee died previously.
