Franklin J. Wechter, 83, of Wooster, died Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at his residence. ?Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. He was born August 2, 1923, in New Washington, to Sylvester and Marie (Kreim) Wechter. ?He married Aldora M. Tobin on May 18, 1946. ?She survives.
He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. ?He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame cum laude with a Bachelor's degree and later a Master's degree cum laude in Chemical Engineering. ?He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Wooster and a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus. ?He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children Nancy (Dennis) Gay of Naperville, Illinois, JoAnn Mayo of Longmont, Colorado, David (Nadine) Wechter of Oak Park, Illinois, Mary (David) Shewmon of Wooster, Cathy (Keith) Styborski of Columbus, and Julie Dilenschneider of Powell; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother Sylvester Wechter of New Washington; sisters Doris Caporini of Shelby, and Sister Alice Wechter of Tiffin.
His parents and infant son Robert Sylvester Wechter died previously.
