Galen “Woody” Woodruff, 57, of Apple Creek, died Sunday October 4, 2009 at Wooster Community Hospital after a short battle with cancer. Friends may call Wednesday from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Services will be Thursday at 11:00am at the funeral home with Rev. Galen was born May 20, 1952 in Wooster to Robert and Viola (Ammons) Woodruff.
He married Carol Markley on June 12, 1976. She survives.
Galen served in the U.S. Army from 1971 until 1974.
He was a state certified Journeyman. He worked at the Gerstenslager Company for 8 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the Gold Wing Riders Association in Ohio. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, boating and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife and mother of Wisconsin, Galen will be deeply missed by his children Eric (Amy) Woodruff of Marshallville, Jason (Trista) Woodruff of Apple Creek and Jeremy (Leslie) Woodruff of Shepherd Air Force Base, Texas, grandchildren Randii, Justin, Shelby, and a granddaughter expected in November, a brother Gary (Sandy) Woodruff of Wisconsin, sisters Carol Sue Woodruff of Wisconsin and Sharon (Charles) Hinton of Wooster, nieces and nephews and best friend Huey, his black lab. Galen was preceded by his father Robert Woodruff.
