Gerald A. Dow, 89, of Wadsworth passed away Sunday, November 02, 2008 at his residence with family by his side.Services will be Tuesday at 3pm at the Roberts Funeral Home – Sherwood Chapel, Wooster.Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.Entombment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Gerald was born November 19, 1918 in Akron to Halsey and Lyda {Bogne} Dow.He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII.He married Helen Cojacar.She died in 1961.He then married Gertrude Pearson. She died in 1998.
Gerald retired as an installer from the former Western Electric after many years of service.He volunteered for several organizations including the Society for the Blind.He also volunteered with special needs children.He enjoyed building model ships and airplanes.
Gerald will be deeply missed by his daughter Susan Abbott of El Paso, TX; grandchildren Jon Hantzsche, Danielle (Rick) Palagyi, Jacob Imhoff, and James Simpson; great-grandchildren Christina, Jennifer, Andrew, Alexandria, and Mitchell; niece Vanessa nee Dow (Harry) Boring; great neices and nephew Jennifer, Jessica, Jullian, and Jarred; as well as his best buddy Patches.
In addition to his wives, Gerald was preceded in death by his siblings Elmer, Oakey, Foster, Harland, and Esther.
