Harry Hilton Shire, 88 of Ashland, died on Monday January 26, 2009 at his home in Ashland. Harry was born September 12,1920 in Ashland to Roy Allen and Lula Marie (Boley) Shire. He married Betty Roesel on November 12, 1946. Harry was employed with FE Myers for twenty years. He was a welder and a metal worker. Harry was a cook for Ashland College and a Life member of the VFW and DVA. Harry enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and he loved to mushroom hunt.Harry served in the United States Army during WWII, serving with General Patton 3
rd
Army in The XX Corp and the Ghost Guard Corp.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Betty and three sons Gale of Alaska, Dwayne and Harry L of Ashland, two daughters Gloria (James) Titchenell of Jeromsville and Roberta (Michael) Burroughs of Ashland, twelve grandchildren and 30 great-grand-children. Four brothers Lewis, William, Robert, and John preceded Harry indeath.
Grave side service for Harry H Shire will be Friday January 30,2009 11:00 a.m.at Ashland County Memorial Park, with Hal Koehler officating. Military rights will be conducted by The Joint Veterans Organization. Inurnmentwill follow.
