Harry C. Surls, 84, of Wooster, died Friday, March 09, 2007 at Smithville Western Care Center. ?Services will be Tuesday at 11am at the Roberts Funeral Home - Sherwood Chapel, Wooster with Rev. David Wilcox officiating. ?Entombment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held by the American Legion Post 68 Wooster. ?Masonic services will be held at 5:30pm on Monday at the funeral home, immediately followed by visitation from 6 to 8 pm. Harry was born December 22, 1922 in Alliance to Harry C. and Ella {Larkins} Surls Sr. He served in the US Army during WWII with the 766 Railway Shop Battalion. ?After the war, he married Gloria Cohagen on July 2, 1950. ?Harry was a teacher in West Holmes for many years. ?He was a member of the Wooster United Methodist Church, and Spartan Lodge 126 in Millersburg.
Harry was an active member of the 555 Honor Guard and American Legion Post 68, providing funeral honors, presenting the flag at Wooster High School football games, and speaking to high school students. ?He also enjoyed music and was an amateur photographer.
Harry will be deeply missed by his wife, son Wayne Surls of Wooster.
A sister Jean Surls died previously.
