Homer Eugene McQuillan, 81, of Ashland, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2009, at North Central Hospice House in Ashland. Homer was born May 24, 1927 in Ashland, OH to Willard and Grace Elizabeth (Brockway) McQuillan. Homer married Dorothy Taylor, January 10, 1946.He worked as a Tread Tuber Operator at Mansfield Tire retiring after 34 year of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Ashland. Homer was in the United States Army during WWII, in the tank core in U.S. Pacific Theater. He belonged to the Eagles Club, Amvets, and the American Legion. Homer enjoyed bowling and spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Dorothy, sons Charles (Jackie) of Mansfield, Terry (Casey) of Ashland, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, sisters Francis (Gerald) Bright of Fla., Barbara Midgly of Richfield, brothers Jim (Dolores) of Ashland, Phil of Cal., Dave (Dixie) of Mifflin, Gerald of Butler. And numerous nieces and nephews. Homer was preceded in death by an infant son, and daughter Linda K. McQuillan two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will be held at Roberts Funeral Home – Ashland Chapel on Monday May 4, 2009 at 2:00 pm. with Dr. Butch White officiating. Friend and family may visit one hour prior to service. Military rites will be conducted by Joint Veteran Council. Entombment will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park Memorial. Contributions May be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
