Irene Boyd

Irene Boyd, 85, of Ashland went to be with her Lord on Friday, May 9, 2008. ?She was born January 6, 1923 in Massies Mill, VA, the daughter of Henry James and Esther (Lawhorne) Sprouse. ?On July 13, 1946 Irene married W.C. "Jack" Boyd, Sr. who preceded her in death in 2005. ?She was the co-owner and operator of Jack's Restaurant in Mansfield from 1954 to 1972. ?She was employed with Appliance Fair and Fuji True Color/Allprints both in Mansfield. ?She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland. ?Irene was known for walking her beloved dog Cindy throughout the neighborhood. ?She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and bingo. ?Irene will be deeply missed by her son Winfred (Karen) Boyd Jr. of Ashland, step-daughter Jerrie (Virgil) Jones of Mansfield, grandchildren Kim McMillan, Jenni (Tim) Stoops, Troy Miller, Sharon Miller, 14 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, ?brother Marion Sprouse of Massies Mill, VA, sisters Margaret McNabb of Arrington, VA, Sarah (Johnny) Howes of New Port News, VA, and sister-in-law Mary Sprouse of Amherst, VA. ?Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Boyd Sr, her parents, brother James Sprouse, and sister Louise Miller. ?Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 12, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home - Ashland Chapel, 1058 US 250 W., Ashland. ??Friends may also visit with the family one hour before the funeral service to be held on Tuesday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland with Rev. Robert Pflueger officiating. ?Burial will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park.
