James Hartman

July 17, 1941 — March 11, 2006

James Jacob Hartman, 64, of Nankin, died Saturday, March 11, 2006, at his residence.

Born July 17, 1941, in Mansfield, he was the son of Jacob Peter and Elizabeth Gretten Hartman.

Mr. Hartman retired after 37 years of service with Faultless Rubber Co. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War, stationed in Camp Pendleton, Calif.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1067, AMVETS Post 96 and Fraternal Order of Eagles, 2178, Ashland.

He enjoyed fishing and being with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Betty A. Hartman, to whom he was married July 17, 1970; his mother, Elizabeth Gretten Hartman Smith of Ashland; two daughters and one son-in-law, Nancy and George Severnak of New York and Jody Martin of Columbus; and one son, William Hartman of Nankin; and one aunt, Mary Hartman Workman and her husband Glenn of Mansfield.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Perry "PJ" Coffman and Susan, Mandy Motter, Tracy Young, Richard, Christopher and Erin Jolicoeur and Rita and Phil Apap; and his great-grandchildren, Exavior Coffman, Jessica Sours, Damion Hunt, Lillian Motter, Maddison and Anthony Apap.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Peter Hartman; one brother, Jacob T. Hartman; one aunt, Catherine F. Aumend; and one great-grandchild, Christopher Motter.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Roberts Funeral Home, 1058 US 250 North, Ashland, with the Rev. James Brothers officiating. Burial will be in Ashland County Memorial Park, with military rites conducted by the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at the funeral home.
