JoAnn was born September 26, 1934 in Ashland, Ohio to John Avery and Opal Marie (Eddington) Motter.She married Jack Eugene Hecker on September 1, 1951.

She worked for Pentair Pump in Ashland in the stockroom for 20 years, retiring in 1993.She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post and the IAM (International Association of Machinist) Local Lodge 27 where she was a member for 37 years.She enjoyed bingo, fishing and spending time with her family.
Surviving are children Jack (Debbie) Hecker of Columbus, daughter-in-law Julie Hecker of Ashland and Judy (Don) Mosher of Wooster,7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a brother Phillip (Joy) Motter of Nankin and sisters Phyllis (Larry) Fitzgerald, Linda (Dave) Pauly and Janet Keener all of Ashland, and numerous nieces and nephews.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Jack, son Jim Hecker and a sister Norma Jean Hartsel.
