Larry “Jay” Matthews, of Savannah, passed away at his home, November 7, 2010 after a long illness, with his loved ones at his side.
Jay was born July 8, 1953 in Pennsylvania to Clarence E. and Marilyn M. (Hughes) Matthews.
Jay retired from General Motors in 2009.He was a member of the Ashland Eagles, he was a fan of Nascar and enjoyed Harley Davidsons.
On June 15, 1973, Jay married Mary May Lamb, who preceded him in death in February of 2003.
Jay is survived by his three sons; Jesse, Christopher and Mark, all of the home in Savannah, a sister; Carolyn Dewey of North Carolina, and numerous nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
Funeral services will be Thursday November 11, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the Roberts Funeral Home, Ashland Chapel, 1058 US Rte 250 W. Ashland, OH.Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Online tributes may be made at
