Marilyn was born April 26, 1919 in Vermillion Township to Earl and Hilda Price Carpenter.She graduated from Ashland High School in 1937 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ashland College in 1941 and Marilyn was May Queen in 1940.She was a lifetime member of the Park Street Brethren Church.After college she worked at the Ohio Fuel Gas Co.
On September 6, 1942 she married James Richcreek, who preceded her in death April 16, 2007.During World War II she worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland where Jim was stationed for three years.While he was in the Philippine Islands, she worked at a number of different offices on the Ashland College campus, including the Alumni, Business, Registrar’s Office and in the Science Division office.She taught Womens’ Physical Education three years at Mount Marty College and High School in Yankton, South Dakota, and worked in an office at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
While her husband taught at Central Michigan University, she worked in the District Office of Michigan Consolidated Gas Co. in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
Marilyn is survived by a special sister, June Davis of Ashland and a nephew, Kris and two great nephews of Indianapolis, Ind.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jim, a sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Foster James, a brother-in-law Ben Davis, a nephew Tom Davis, and an infant great nephew, Chad Davis.
Funeral services will be 11am, Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Roberts Funeral Home, Ashland Chapel, 1058 US Rte 250, Ashland, with Pastor Don Earlenbaugh officiating. Online tributes may be made at
