Marjorie J. Wolfe, 87, of Ashland, died Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Kingston of Ashland.
She was born August 31, 1924 in Ames, Iowa to George M. and Anna M. (Hicks) Smith.She graduated from Ames High School in 1942, attended Iowa State University and Kent State University and graduated from Ashland College in 1975.She worked at F. E. Myers and Bro. Co. as a secretary, from 1976 to 1982, and served as secretary to the Mayor of Ashland from 1983 to 1992.
Marjorie was a member of First United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star (Past Worthy Matron), City Sisters, Civic Welfare League, Ashland County TB and Respiratory Board, American Legion Auxiliary, Ashland Emblem Club, and served as an election board poll worker for many years.
She married Richard P. Wolfe on September 15, 1945.He predeceased her on September 24, 1986.
Survivors include her children, Richard P. Wolfe II, Claudia L. Wolfe, and Rodger D. (Joyce) Wolfe, all of Ashland; three grandchildren, Christina (Wolfe) Sommers of Cincinnati, Gretchen (Wolfe) Anselmo of Pittsburgh, PA and Paul Wolfe of Seattle, WA; five great grandchildren, Grace Sommers, Nathan Sommers, Rose Sommers, Jonathan Sommers and Luca Anselmo; two step-grandchildren, Chris Burrows and Tracy Liston; sister in law, Nitaray (Smith) Thomas of Prescott, Arizona, and her nieces and nephews.
Her brother, Wendell Smith, preceded her in death in 1989.
