Marlin W. Simms, 67, of Apple Creek, died Friday, April 11, 2008 at this residence. ?Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8pm at Roberts Funeral Home - Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Services will be Tuesday at 11am at the Grace Brethren Church with Pastor Robert Fetterhoff officiating. ?Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. ?Online tributes may be made at www.robertsfuneralhome.com. ?

Marlin was born October 30, 1940 in Clinton, Ohio to Victor S. and Thelma M. (Dunn) Simms.

He married Patricia Webster on February 13, 1960. ?He earned a B.S. Degree from Huntington University in 1963, and received his M.A. Degree from Kent State University in 1970.

Marlin taught 6th grade at Parkview and Grant St. Elementary from 1963-1970. ?He then worked for North Central Schools retiring in 1993 in administration from Burbank Elementary. ?He was a member of Wooster Grace Brethren Church for over 44 years. ?He taught 6th grade boys Sunday School and Wednesday night Boys Club for most of those years. ?Marlin served many years as a School Board Member of Wooster Christian School, and was Administrator there for 1 year. ?He was also a member of the Creston Lions Club. He enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels every Friday in Orrville, photography, especially sunset pictures.

Marlin will be deeply missed by his wife and children Scott and Cathy, Mark and Mindy all of Apple Creek, and Jeff and Krista of North Liberty, IN and grandchildren Matt, Andrew, Tiffany and Ben all of Apple Creek and Jessica, Rachel and Philip of North Liberty, IN, his mother Thelma Simms and a brother Dwight Simms both of Orrville, sisters Vicki (Russell) Murphy of Bowie, MD, ?Gloria (Larry) Scarberry of Landrum, S.C. and numerous nieces and nephews. Marlin was preceded in death by his father.
