Mary L. Chenevey, 85, of Wooster, died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Smtihville Western Care Center. Mass will be Saturday at 11am at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com .


Mary was born November 9, 1924 in Fredericksburg to Cyril and Helen {Becker} Chenevey. She graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1942 then, Actual Business College in Akron (now Hammel Business College).


She enlisted in the SPARS (Women’s Reserve of the US Coast Guard) in May 1944. She then moved to San Francisco, CA. She worked for the US government for 40 years first as a secretary for the Veterans Administration, then the Navy, and retired from the Justice Department in 1986. She moved to Wooster where she held several part time positions, including five years at Meadon & Moore. Mary enjoyed volunteering for the Wooster Hospital Gift Shop and Visiting Nurse Service. She was a member of the Professional Secretaries Int’l, Golden Gate Chapter; Pacifica Business and Professional Women’s Club of San Francisco, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, International Toastmistress; and life member of the Wooster Community Hospital Auxilliary.Mary was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis.


Mary is survived by brother Anthony Chenevey of Canfield, sister Regina (Earl) Rice of Fredericksburg, sister-in-law Eileen Chenevey of Massillon, and many nieces and nephews.





She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, and brothers Joseph and Robert Cheneve
