Mary Fanny Stowers, 92, daughter of Walter and Emma Stowers, formerly of Lurich Community, Giles County, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on May 15, 2007. ?She had made her home for the last 6 ? years with her nephew Ray and Vicki Akers of Polk. ?Before that she lived with her sister Dora and Andy Akers of Polk for 23 years, and in Virginia up until then.
Fanny was born in Pounding Mill, Virginia, on June 8, 1914, the 5th of 12 children. ?She was preceded in death by her parents; 6 brothers: Berman, Brady, Oliver, Elmer, Carl, and Dean Stowers; 3 sisters: Nellie Akers of Florida, Dora Akers of Polk, and Annie Bell Shaddle of Austinville, Virginia.
Fanny leaves behind 2 sisters: Mable Wade of Princeton, West Virginia, and Ruth Keith of Radford, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. ?Aunt Fanny will be missed very much.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 17, at Roberts Funeral Home - Ashland Chapel at 2:00 p.m. ?Pastor Don Thompson will be officiating. ?Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. ?Burial will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park. ?
