Melvin L. "Budd" Hites, 85, of Centerville, formerly of Wooster, died Friday, April 4, 2008 at his residence.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at the Roberts Funeral Home - Sherwood Chapel, Wooster where Masonic services will be held at 5:30pm. ?Services will be Wednesday at 10am at the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin Phipps officiating. Inurnment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster. ?Online tributes may be made at www.robertsfuneralhome.com.
Melvin was born December 28, 1922 in Apple Creek to John G. and Lola V. Franks Hites. ?He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. ?After the war, he married Jeanne E. Kellicker on May 10, 1945. ?She died in 1993. ?Melvin worked for Rubbermaid for 22 years retiring in 1985.
He was a member of Ebenezer lodge #33 F&AM and enjoyed traveling.
Melvin will be deeply missed by his children Cheryl Billheimer of Kalamazoo, MI and Calvin Hites of Kettering; ?4 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; a great-grandchild; 8 step great-grandchildren; and a sister Dorothy Shoup of Zeland, MI.
In addition to his wife, a son John Hites and a sister Evelyn Besancon died previously.
