Mildred was born May 21, 1930 in Alliance to Charles G. and Victoria M. (Hawthorne) Hammond.
She married Lee Roy Downes on October 15
th
, 1955. He passed away on September 5
th
, 1981.
Mildred worked for Rooney Optical in Canton, Owl Grill and Caskey Motor Inn of Alliance.She retired from Buehler’s after 28 years of service.She enjoyed embroidery, reading, piano and most of all talking with friends.
Mildred will be deeply missed by her children Cindy (Dan) Dennis of Tega Cay, South Carolina Lynn Downes and Linda Lairson both of Wooster, and Rebecca (Mike) Folk of Mogadore; grandchildren Eric and Brad Dennis, Michael and Alicia Bickel, Joshua and Ryan Butler, Gabriel Van Zile, Amanda Roberts; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren; a niece and nephew, cousins and her cat Precious.
In addition to her husband Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; sister Edna Greenawalt on August 10

, 2008; nephew Tim G.; great-grandson Caleb Van Zile.
