On August 22, 2009, Mildred Catherine Leggett, 87, of Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster, passed away quietly.Mildred “Midge” was the first-born child of Verdi and Lon Westfall, born in Stowe, Ohio June 8, 1922.Midge was reared in Carrollton, Ohio along with brothers Donald (Lucille), Ted (Maxine), Robert (Donna), and Larry (Claire) and sisters Evelyn Bennett (Marshall) and Shirley Welty (Ronald).Robert, Shirley, Evelyn and Larry survive.
Mildred married Leonard Leggett in September of 1939 and they became the parents of Kathy Garrett of Akron, Susan Danner (Newt) of Wooster and Lori Besancon (Randy) of Fredericksburg.The Leggetts had eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Midge was a fun-loving lady, who, over the years was active as a Girl Scout leader, room mother, belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, was on two Wooster golf leagues, belonged to two bridge clubs and worked part-time for the Wooster AAA for many years. Midge was loved and will be sadly missed by her friends and family.
Services will be Thursday at 2:00pm at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating.Entombment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online tributes may be made at www.robertsfuneralhome.com
