Naomi E. Fissell, 87, of Wooster died Saturday, January 22, 2011 at West View Manor in Wooster. Private services will be held in Oklahoma. Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster is handling the local arrangements.
Naomi was born August 9, 1923 in Faxon, Oklahoma to Zedock Ferris and Ilma F. (McCarty) DeVaughan. She graduated from Cameron State College in Lawton, Oklahoma and was in the Alpha Delta Sorority.
Naomi worked at Ft. Sill Army Base in Oklahoma as a stenographer where she met her husband William G. Fissel. They married on July 9, 1944. He passed away on April 20, 2001.
She was a housewife and loved antiques and collectible glassware and was Past President of the Lodi American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Naomi will be deeply missed by her daughters Constance Wood of Burbank, Ohio, Cathy (William) Rood of Sacramento, California and sons William Craig Fissell of Wooster and Christopher Mark Fissell of Colorado, grandchildren Jesse Dean and Ronna Suzanne Wood, brothers J. C. DeVaughan of Binger, Oklahoma, Beryl DeVaughan of Anadarko, Oklahoma, Zed DeVaughan of Edmond, Oklahoma, Darwin DeVaughan of Binger, Oklahoma, Bobbie DeVaughan of West Barnstable, Massachusetts and a sister Darlene Wilson of Lokeba, Oklahoma.
In addition to her parents and husband Naomi was preceded in death by brothers Johnnie and Royce DeVaughan.
