Nelson Hackett

Nelson “Bill” W. Hackett, 77, of Wooster, passed away Tuesday May 1, 2012 at Smithville Western Commons, in Wooster.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11am at Roberts Funeral Home- Sherwood Chapel. Inurnment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.

Bill was born July 21, 1934 in Wooster and was the son of Nelson and Alice (Catliff) Hackett. He married Margaret (Peggy) Greathouse on February 18, 1956.

Bill worked at the Daily Record for many years. He enjoyed video photography and collected many items of automobilia. His lifelong passion for travel took him and his family throughout the United States, Canada, and Western Europe.

He is survived by his wife and children David (Debbie) of Smithville, Carolyn Hackett and Andy Woodsonof Columbus, sister Dilys (Ted) Batkin of California, nieces and nephew, also lifelong friend, Ben (Adrienne) Byo and family of Calgary, Alberta.
