Oakley “Guy” Hawkins, 91, of Ashland died Friday, May 01, 2009.Guy was born May 26, 1917 in Braxton County, WV to George E. and Dallie E.{Myers} Hawkins.He served in the US Army during WWII in the 71

Infantry 44
th
Division.He married Ruie Jean Gump on May 22, 1948.She survives.
Guy worked for National Latex for 19 years and then for the Ohio Department of Transportation for 13 years and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
He enjoyed woodworking and Gardening
In addition to his wife, Guy will be deeply missed by his daughter Teresa (Woody) Jones of Mansfield; grandchildren Troy (Denna) Hawkins and Jodell (Robert) Newberry; great-grandchildren Kaley, Kristin, and Olivia Hawkins and Nathan and Tesla Newberry; brothers and sisters Pauline, Mourine, Dell, Earl, and Ray; and a foster daughter Angie Butler Fowler.
Guy was preceded in death by his son Roger Lee Hawkins, and brothers and sister Orville Clen,Harvey Glen, and sister Mary Lea.
Services will be Tuesday at 3 pm at the Roberts Funeral Home – Ashland Chapel with the Pastor John Bouquet officiating.Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park where military rites will be held.Online tributes may be made at
