Raymond James Nelson, 85, of Ashland went to be with his Heavenly Father Monday, November 07, 2011 at Samaritan Hospital.
Raymond was born August 13, 1926 in Greenwich to James J. and Margurete B. (Bolding) Nelson.
He was a clerk for the United States Post office.Raymond served in the U.S. Army during World War II, served in General MacArthur’s headquarters. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.He enjoyed woodworking, loved fishing and reading.
In 1951, he married Bonna Dene Anders, who preceded him in death in 1978.
In 1979, he married Helen Belle Jarboe, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Terry (Jean) Nelson of Ashland and Steven (Chris) Nelson of Jeromesville; step children, Dennis (Iretta) Patterson of Hudson, Florida and Brinda (Jim) Illig of Dade City Florida; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren; six step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren; and a sister, JoAnn (Dick) James.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother, Robert L. Nelson.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 2 pm at Roberts Funeral Home, Ashland Chapel, 1058 US Rte 250 N., with Pastor Strachan officiating.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Ashland County Memorial Park. Military rites will be presented by active duty members.Online tributes may be made at
