Rev. Robert Wheelock

September 29, 1921 — October 26, 2008

Rev. Robert Brigham “Brig” Wheelock, 87, of Dalton, died Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Dalton. Services will be Thursday at 2:00 at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster with Rev. Terry Livengood officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Brig was born in Ames, Iowa, September 29, 1921 to Mae (Gunn) and Brigham Wheelock. He married Vida Averhoff on September 18, 1960. She died in 1998. He graduated from High School in Mapleton, Iowa and received his B.A. from University of Iowa.



He received his M.A. from the University of Iowa and attended Dubugue Seminary at Dubuque, Iowa and was ordained as a minister for United Church of Christ affiliation. He retired and pastored churches in Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois and Ohio. During his life he ministered, shared his kindness, and gentle spirit to many folks. He loved to sing and his singing voice was a blessing to many.



He served in the U. S. Army oversees in Germany during WWII.



He was a wonderful father and will be missed by his daughters Rebecca (Ed) Hartmann of Dalton and Elizabeth Cottrell, grandchildren Matthew, Melissa, Ellen, Noel and Edward II Hartmann and a great-granddaughter Sydney and a sister Virginia (Ken) Henderson from Mission, Texas.
