Rev. Theodore R. Jacobs, 74, of Ashland, went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Brethren Care Nursing Center.
Ted was born September 12, 1937 in Coshocton to Herman & Bertha Jacobs.Ted farmed with his father, two brothers, and two sisters.He served in the US Army as a sharpshooter.Ted married Judy Mae McQuate in April 1960.
He worked for the Northern Ohio Telephone Co., drove semis, and retired from F.E. Myers in 1999. Ted was saved by the Lord while in jail in 1963 by Rev. Roy Warner.He was a Baptist preacher co-founding Bethany Bible Church on Elm St. and was the pastor at Bible Believers Church. Ted served in the jail and prison ministry as well as the rest home ministry.He was a member of the Ashland CB Club for many years.He was an avid Indians and Browns fan.Coon hunting was a big part of Ted’s life; he had a “Red Boon Coon” dog that was his hunting companion.
Ted will be deeply missed by children Monica Medley of Mansfield, Lynda (Stan) of Mifflin, Elizabeth (Mike) Watson of Mansfield, Wendy Carter of Savannah, and Tim (Jessica) Stevens of Ashland; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters Karolyn (Jack) Curtis and Betty Jo (Larry) Mullins; several nieces and nephews.
Ted was preceded in death by his brothers Arthur R. and Thomas E. Jacobs and granddaughter Hannah M. McCaskey.
Friends may call today (Monday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel.Services will be Tuesday at 11 am at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Gess officiating.Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park, where military rites will be held. It is said that Ted really loved the Lord and wanted everyone to know him as he did.
