Richard (Dick) John Stoner, 86, of Wooster, OH died Sunday, August 2, 2009 in his home.Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the Roberts Funeral Home – Sherwood Chapel, Wooster.Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 AM at the funeral home.Online tributes may be made at

Born April 8, 1923 in Grand Rapids, MI, fourth of four children to William and Jenny Stoner. A 1941 graduate of Central High School Lansing, MI. Dick enlisted in the US Navy on Dec 8, 1941. Following his four year Navy service Dick attended and graduated from Michigan State University with a BS degree in Forestry. He remained a loyal Spartan his entire life.
In 1957 he founded Stoner Lumber in Columbus, OH, a wholesaler of softwood lumber. Later in 1960 he started up a wholesale distribution lumberyard. In 1973 he purchased a mobile home truss manufacturing plant in Holmesville, OH and began the Trusso Manufacturing Company, providing lumber and sub structure components to the mobile and modular home industry. He started an outdoor furniture product line in 1979 producing picnic tables and seating groups. As the outdoor furniture and modular housing industry weakened in 1992 Dick turned his business property into an industrial park, which is still in operation today. He was a member of the Wooster Country Club from 1976 to 1991 and 2003 to 2006 where he served as president in 1989and 1990.
Dick is survived by his four sons and spouses: RickandJoyce of Berthoud, CO, Brad and Letecia of Wooster, Greg and Ramona ofBig Prairie, Geoff & Carol, Cambria CA; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
