Roland "Buck" Spray Burkett Jr., 84 of Wadsworth, died Tuesday, April 10 at Akron City Hospital. He was born October 30, 1922 in Barberton to Roland Spray and Bertha (Kernan) Burkett Sr.
Roland married Isabelle V. Guldeman on June 25, 1949. He was a US Army Veteran serving in the European theater in WWII, retired from Ohio Injector Conval after 42 years of service, retired in 2004 after being a crossing guard for 13 years, and was a member of Wadsworth VFW.
Buck will be deeply missed by daughter Cheryl Bishop of Wadsworth, son Russell (Susan) Burkett of Creston, grandchild Lisa (Chris) Burkett-Hostetler of Wooster, great-grandchildren Jordan, Peyton and Alexandra all of Wooster, sister Betty Rozell of Wadsworth, special niece Vivian Hughes of Wadsworth, numerous nieces and nephews and all his friends at Crites Restaurant.
He was preceded in death by his wife Isabelle on December 2, 2005, his parents, grandson Michael C. Burkett, sisters Louise Weaver and Jeannette Barr and brother Charles Burkett.
Private services will be Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at Roberts Funeral Home-Hillcrest Chapel, Wadsworth. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
