Tony Petri

March 31, 1926 — January 23, 2011

Tony Petri, 84 of Wooster, died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Wooster Community Hospital. Friends may call Wednesday January 26, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel. An Elks service will be at 5:45pm. Funeral services will be Thursday January 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Mitchell officiating. Tony was born March 31, 1926 in Wheeling, West Virginia to Ottavio and Maria (Orlandini) Petri. Tony was married to Betty J. Hancher for 52 years. She died on April 6, 2002. He married Betty (Fox) Harsh on November 3, 2004. She survives.


Tony worked for Johnson Controls and was a Pipefitter with Local Union 94 for over 20 years. He was a member of Wooster Elks, and a member of The College of Wooster Senior Golf League. In his 70's he had low score honor. Tony was an avid card player and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.


In addition to his wife, Tony will be deeply missed by his children Miles J. Petri of Daytona Beach, Florida, Kim (Dennis) Carney of Wooster; grandchildren Alysha (Zeph) Frary, Austin Carney, Erin (Mike) Carney-Tipton; step-children Becky (Don) Orr of Holmesville, Robin (Tim) Bowman of Madison, Virginia, Jack (Heidi) Gant of Wooster; step-grandchildren Kyle and Tyler Orr, Christina (Mark) Ballard, Mason and Abby Bowman, and Megan and Trevor Gant; sister Irene Tustin-Lohr and sister-in-laws Violet Petri and Mary Gumm; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Tony was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty J. Petri, a brother Bruno Petri, and sisters Albina Murray, Ada Reed, and Ida Roque.
