W. Edward Kirksey, 76, of Wooster died Monday, March 17, 2008 at Smithville Western Care Center in Wooster. ?Memorial services will be Thursday at 11:00am at the Church of the Cross United Methodist Church, Madisonburg, with Rev. Dr. Thomas Shaw officiating. ?Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens where military rites will be held. ?Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. ?Online tributes may be made at www.robertsfuneralhome.com. ?

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Cancer Research, 512 W. Saratoga St., Baltimore, MD 21201, or to the Salvation Army, 437 S. Market St., Wooster, Ohio ?44691.

Ed was born June 17, 1931 in Benwood, West Virginia to Walter E. and Katy E.(Wood)Kirksey.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. ?He married Wanda Abraham on August 21, 1954. ?Ed worked for Sprint for 25 years, retiring in 1993. ?After retirement, he consulted for Rubbermaid for many years. ?He was a member of the Church of the Cross United Methodist Church. ?Ed volunteered for the Wooster Community Hospital, servicing Medical Alert units. His purpose in life was helping others.

Ed will be deeply missed by his wife and children Patti Kirksey (Ken) Rohal of Creston, John(Anita)Kirksey of Powell, Steve Kirksey of Lincolnton, North Carolina, Susan Kirksey (James) Nussbaum of Mt. Hope, grandchildren Kathy Nussbaum, Kylie Kirksey, Carissa Kirksey Rohal, Amber Nussbaum, Drew Kirksey, Chad Kirksey and Carson Kirksey, brother Don (Patty) Kirksey of St. Clairsville and a sister Vivian (John) Moore of Willoughby.

Ed was preceded in death by his brother James Kirksey and sister Eloise Szerszen.
