Walter Allen

Walter "Walt" Leroy Allen, 81, Ashland, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2008, at MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield. ?He was born March 29, 1927 in Mifflin, Ohio, the son of Howard and Verna (Ramsier) Allen. ?He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre of Operation. ?Walt has been married to his beloved wife Marie E. Carr for 60 years. ?He worked for Columbia Gas of Ohio for 37 years. ?He is a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ashland where he served as a greeter. ?Walt was also a member of the VFW of Ashland, American Legion, Eagles, and Pandora Dance Club of Mansfield. ?He was a avid outdoorsman. ?Walt will be deeply missed by his wife, Marie Allen, children Michael (Gail) Allen of Beavercreek, Martin (Kathy) Allen of Kalamazoo, MI, granddaughter Brandy Allen, grandsons Shane (Fara) Allen, Vance (Cristine) Allen, Joshua (Elissa) Allen, two great-grandsons William and Raphael, brother Robert Allen of Medina, sisters Wilma Miller of Georgia, Pauline Faulkner of Lodi, Jean Roberts of Canton, Barbara Heilman & Doris Boreman both of Spencer. ?Walt is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Dorothy Archer. ?Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home - Ashland Chapel, 1058 US 250 W., Ashland. ?Funeral services will be Monday, May 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1360 Smith Rd., Ashland with Rev. Virginia Pflueger officiating. ?Burial will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park where Navy Active Duty will conduct military rites. ?
