Wilbur "Whitey" Myron Whitehead, 87, of Ashland, died Friday, November 30, 2007, at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland.
Whitey was born on December 20, 1919 in Wellington to George B. and Helen G. (Ramsey) Whitehead. ?He married Evelyn H. Harrison on November 28, 1938.
Whitey served with the U.S. Navy See Bee's during World War II. ?He retired in 1988 from Sterling Foundry after 36 years of service. ?He attended Maple Grove Church of the Brethren and was a life member of the VFW. ?He enjoyed golfing and traveling.
Whitey will be deeply missed by his wife Evelyn, children Jerry (Bonnie) Whitehead of Mansfield, Terry Whitehead of Ashland, Sharon (Brad) Livingston of Michigan, Beverly Buxton of North Carolina, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, brothers Carl R. Sheller of Kentucky and Ronnie Sheller of Colorado, and sister Jeanette Keefer of Ashland. ?
Whitey was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers, and one sister.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2007, at Roberts Funeral Home - Ashland Chapel, 1058 US 250 West, Ashland with Rev. Bill Shaffer officiating. ?Interment will be at Ashland County Memorial Park where military rites will be held. ?Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, December 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
