Willard A. Read, 96, of Doylestown, died Tuesday January 22, 2008 at his residence. ?Memorial services will be Monday at 1:30 at the First Presbyterian Church of Barberton with Rev. Willard was born October 21, 1911 in Topeka, Kansas to William A. and Anna (Kahrs) Read.
He graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas with a bachelors of Engineering degree.
He married Janet Hanna on August 27, 1940.
He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Barberton where he served as an elder for many years. ?He loved gardening, and was an avid bowler. ?He worked for Babcock and Wilcox in Barberton for 38 years, retiring in 1978.
He will be deeply missed by his children Carolyn (Glenn) Hodges of Lenexa, KS, Harriette (Tony) Gerbec of Omaha, NE; 6 grandchildren, 5 great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his wife Janet Read and a daughter Miriam and a sister Lillian. ?A special thanks to his wonderful and dedicated caregivers. ?
